General Business Meeting

Friday September 29, 2006

The NYSASIC general business meeting was called to order by President Amy Clute at 10:00 AM at Canoe Island Lodge, Lake George, NY.

The minutes of the May 12, 2006 General Business Meeting were reviewed and approved on motion of Dick Davies, seconded by Susan Lent, passed.

Colleen Capwell gave the Treasurer’s Report.  The total expenses from May 1, 2006 through September 26, 2006 were $15,981.60, which does not include the fall conference expenses.  As of September 26, 2006, NYSASIC had a checking account balance of $9,387.70 and a savings account balance of $9,968.93 for a total balance of $19,356.63.  The Treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Paul Casey, seconded by Deb Burnham, passed.

The 2007 NYSASIC Spring Conference will be held May 9-11, at the Riveredge Resort in Alexandria Bay, NY.

Under old business Amy Clute brought up the topic of continuing education credits.  In the summer an e-mail went over our electronic roundtable as to the interest in having our conference sessions count as continuing education credits.  There seems to be a big interest on the part of the vendors.  The Board will discuss this issue further at their winter Board meeting.

For new business Susan Lent handed out a letter that the Board sent to the Governor on behalf of NYSASIC in opposition to the Special Funds legislation that would have increased the medical authorization from $500 to $1200, which the Governor has vetoed.  Susan also indicated there is a possibility that a carrier can’t claim fraud under Section 114a for a volunteer firefighter and if that is correct our association should push to change that.

At the fall Board meeting the Board appointed a nominating committee of Darlene White, Bob Bilsky, and Gail Hughey.  Amy notified all that Dick Davies is retiring on October 10, 2006 and thanked him for his service to the NYSASIC Association and on the NYSASIC Board.  All present agreed and told Dick he will be missed!

The Fall 2007 NYSASIC Conference will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Corning, NY

The meeting was adjourned at 10:10 AM on the motion of Dick Davies seconded by Darlene White.

Respectfully Submitted,

Amy Poff, Secretary
